It's a challenge common to many parts of Canada and countries in both the developed and developing world... how to make people more aware of air quality and its affects on their health. In Canada, we've worked to do this in conjunction with the introduction of the world's first Air Quality Health Index (AQHI).
The 2009 forest fires in BC’s Okanagan region posed a health threat to people most at risk from air pollution – and created a “teachable moment” to inform them about the relationship between air quality and health. In response, Communication Solutions used the social media tool, Twitter, to inform people about BC’s Air Quality Health Index (www.airhealthbc.ca) and influence their actions – when they needed it most.
Several factors contributed to national interest in Alberta’s air quality, including a new clean air policy, smoke from forest fires, global attention on oil sands, and numerous groups asking citizens to take action to clean up the air.
Facing a critical shortage of physicians and an increasingly competitive recruitment marketplace, Interior Health needed a physician recruitment marketing strategy that would capture doctors' attention and entice them to consider a move to BC's sunny Southern Interior.
Many seniors are concerned about what will happen as they age and require more support. However, for many their current home won't support their changing needs. This presented an opportunity for our client to build a solution, and for us to help them convince seniors to embrace change.
The City of Kamloops bid for the 2015 Canada Winter Games was a way of showing the Canada Games Council and sport organizations across Canada the sport hosting capacity of Canada's Tournament Capital.
The City of Kamloops needed millions of dollars in new provincial funding to complete their $30 million expansion of its Tournament Capital facilities. They needed to know how to achieve this goal and get the community excited about their vision for the future.
Hockey is not just a game, it's part of our Canadian culture. People are passionate about 'their' hockey team. It's also big business. So when four famous NHL'ers and their business partner wanted to purchase the Kamloops Blazers, they needed to convince the community, media and fans that new ownership was a winning formula.
Nurses, doctors and health workers knew they had a great program to help people with heart and lung conditions get healthy and stay active. They also knew "Cardiovascular Respiratory Rehabilitation Program" wasn't helping to tell that story! They asked Communication Solutions to develop a brand which would increase awareness of the program, was attractive to a wider group of people, and would increase referrals from community physicians.
