Project: Citizen Engagement Strategy on Water Fluoridation
Until recently, the City of Williams Lake was 1 of only 8 communities in British Columbia that added fluoride to its water supply, under a bylaw passed in 1969. In 2011, Williams Lake City Council committed to hold a referendum on fluoridation in conjunction with its civic election. However, residents had twice before, in the 1990’s, voted to support the addition of fluoride to their water supply. Low voter turn-out and confusion over the referendum question in these previous situations prompted the City to partner with Communication Solutions to support increased awareness of the issue and encourage residents to cast their vote. >>read more
Project: Public Outreach Campaign in Support of Airshed Management Plan
In 2011 the City of Kamloops committed to developing its first Airshed Management Plan. Project: Social Media Strategy / Increasing awareness of health risks from air pollution during forest fires

While BC enjoys generally good air quality, the province had played a leadership role in implementing and promoting Canada’s new Air Quality Health Index (AQHI). As the lead communications partner for introduction of the AQHI, Communication Solutions recognized the opportunity to align provincial Olympic health and active living priorities with opportunities to raise awareness of air quality in relation to athlete (and public) health. >>read more
